What happens when you tokenize carbon credits?
Carbon Bridge 🐣Toucan published a great explainer about the tokenization of carbon credits. It breaks down the lifecyle of a carbon credit on-chain by I addressing the following simple questions:
What happens when you tokenize carbon credits?
How are carbon tokens different from cryptocurrencies?
How can carbon credit tokenization help the VCM?

Beautiful Application to Offset Ethereum’s Historic Carbon Emissions
Already two months ago, 🔳Blocks.garden has released a beautiful app to green Ethereum’s historic emissions. Blocks.garden’s UI is very well suited to serve as a blueprint for many other offsetting projects. The app lets users claim one/multiple of total 15M ETH PoW blocks (pre-Merge blocks) as an NFT and offset them.

The UI is a tip of the hat to the Million Dollar Pixel Website from 2005. But obviously with a much more interesting purpose. Blocks.garden’s NFT’s can be minted on Opensea (*shout out to ReFiDAO newsletter for making me aware of this project)
Dynamic Pooling: Buy specific carbon credits from highly liquid carbon pools
Carbon credit exchange 👩💻Thallo published an explainer on Carbon Credit Dynamic Pooling. Dynamic Pooling is Thallo’s innovation: It is supposed to combine high liquidity in carbon credit pools while still retaining the opportunity for market participants to buy specific subsets of credits in the pool.
Thallo claims that it allows buyers…
“… to specify their exact CSR requirements and consider all credits that match that criteria fungible. Given the vast nature of the attributes of carbon credits, the number of unique criteria permutations is over a billion. Our dynamic pooling engine is capable of analyzing each and every one of these combinations across all projects.”

Kuoka: Full Revamp of the Category System
I fully revamped the taxonomy system on kuoka.earth to categorize web3/carbon projects. The goal is to better understand how the the projects differentiate, complement and compete along the web3/carbon value chain.
Check it out here: kuoka.earth/category-system-for-web3carbon-projects.
Which categories are missing? Feedback highly appreciated.
